Prayer for Mayor and Councillors
Father God, Sovereign Lord, King of Kings, we come before you this morning with thankful hearts for who you are, how you love us and where you have placed us in this city.
Our city
Lord, your glory shines throughout this city. We commend our city to your merciful care, that we may live securely in peace and be guided by your providence.
Elected officials & their families
We come before you today, Lord to pray for our elected leaders. We ask that they be led by your wisdom, search your will and submit to it. Help them remember that they are called to serve people as lovers of truth and justice. May they lead in unity with courage and integrity to stand for what is right.
We ask you Lord that you would be present in their lives and that they would be willing to ask You for wisdom to make wise decisions that will benefit every Canadian and uphold a standard of righteous values for our nation.
We know that these many times these leaders may feel discouraged and that there jobs may often feel unrelenting. In those days, may they come near to you. Make yourself known to them and may they be encouraged to know that you have placed them there for this time for a purpose
Strength and protect their families, bring healing to their bodies when necessary, protect them in their daily routines and travel. May they see you as the ultimate provider and creator of all things.
We pray that our political leaders would be encouraged to live a lifestyle that promotes good health and endurance. May they pursue meaningful time with their family, which brings stability at home and at work and that you bless them abundantly in all ways that would honour You and Your call on their lives.
May each one come to a personal understanding of your sacrifice on the cross for their eternal salvation and for those who know you may that relationship be the centre of all they do.
Advisors
We also ask Lord for your provision of wise, Godly and empathetic co labourers who will be present and available to help advise our leaders in making decisions on policies that are honoring to you.
We pray for an increase of a generation of Josephs, and Esthers, and Daniels who can be raised up to advocate and provide wise counsel for righteous judgments and decisions made by our politicians.
The church
Lord, for our church family, we ask that you birth in our hearts ideas and strategies to serve our community and encourage our locally elected representatives. Unify us as your body as to keep them in our prayers and may we be a blessing to them and their work in this city.
Final
Thank you, Lord for hearing our prayer today. Thank you, Lord for those you have placed in authority over us and thank you Lord for the promise that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.
In Christ’s name we pray these things and all those in agreement say….AMEN!

Prayer for First Responders
Dear God, Our Heavenly Father,
We come before You today with grateful hearts, lifting every first responder—those who daily stand in the gap to protect and make countless sacrifices for the well-being and safety of this city.
Lord, we ask for Your divine protection, blessing, and guidance over their lives. Strengthen them as they face the challenges and uncertainties of their work. Heal any wounds, seen or unseen, that they may bear through moments of distress, trauma, or fear. Let Your comfort and peace fill their hearts when anxiety tries to creep in.
Jehovah Rapha, God our healer, we ask for your healing over every burdened mind and weary soul—refresh them each day with joy, purpose, and relentless reassurance of Your presence. Instil in their spirits peace that surpasses all understanding, so their hearts are guarded against discouragement.
Grant every responder the courage and the power to keep going, even when the weight of the world seems too heavy. Renew their passion and commitment so they may serve with compassion and integrity, nurturing their gifts for the good of others and for Your glory.
Remind them that they are never alone on this journey. Pour into them a supernatural strength to meet the demands and battles they encounter. When doubt threatens to pull them down, may Your enduring grace lift them. Clothe them with resilience and wisdom; surround them with a support system that fosters love, patience, and hope.
May they become living testaments to Your love: gentle but strong, steadfast yet compassionate, tired yet ever hopeful, continually strengthened and never broken. Empower them to be the people You’ve called them to be, working together to build a community flourishing in love, faith, and safety.
We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus, entrusting our city’s guardians and their loved ones into Your unwavering hands. In Jesus’ mighty name have we prayed with thanksgiving. Amen.

Prayer for Children and Youth of Ottawa
Lord, we lift up the children and youth of Ottawa, thanking You for each precious life and for the opportunity to be part of their journey. You know each of them by name, and You see the dreams, hopes, and challenges that fill their hearts.
Draw them to Your salvation and strengthen their faith, that they may abound in the fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). Protect their families, strengthen their relationships with love, and guide their parents with wisdom (Colossians 3:14, Proverbs 22:6). Preserve their innocence and shield them from harmful influences, helping them grow in strength and courage (Matthew 18:10, 1 Samuel 17). Bless their education, providing guidance and nurturing mentors
(Proverbs 2:6, 1 Thessalonians 5:11).
Lord, we ask for Your divine protection over the unborn, shielding them with Your love and safeguarding their lives with grace and mercy.
We pray for those suffering, especially those facing abuse, poverty, and illness, and for those who are in foster care, or who are experiencing homelessness. Bring healing, peace, and hope, surrounding them with Your love and protection (Psalm 34:18, Isaiah 41:10). Lord, where needed, raise others up to advocate for their rescue, and let Your justice prevail (Isaiah 1:17).
For children with special needs, we ask that You bring healing, grant them resilience, and fill them with Your peace (Psalm 139:14, 2 Corinthians 12:9).
Lord, be with the missionaries, community workers, and caregivers, who are called to serve these precious ones in their various specialties, giving them compassion and strength as they serve (Isaiah 1:17, Micah 6:8).
May Your love bring justice and healing to all the children and youth of Ottawa, as we trust in Your plans of hope and peace (Jeremiah 29:11). Remind each one that they are wonderfully made and deeply loved by You (Psalm 139:14, Isaiah 43:4), and may they grow to fulfill their God-given potential.
Thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayers. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
